Salem Witches' Institute Letter

Well, as you DO NOT know, (I think ... ) this girl is a pretty big Harry Potter fan. One of my friends, Hannah, asked me to send her a Hogwarts letter, because I'm pretty good with ink and pens and computer editing. I don't think she thought I'd go this far, though.

First, I wrote out a Hogwarts letter, but it didn't turn out as cool as I wanted it to. So then, I started thinking. She's going into tenth grade, and lives in the USA, so what are the chances of her getting accepted to Hogwarts right now, really?

So I decided she'd get accepted to the Salem Witches' Institute. The place is mentioned once in the Harry Potter books, number four. It says something like '... four American witches sat gossiping underneath a spangled banner reading Salem Witches' Institute.' Who's to say it's not a high school? It probably also serves all North America, since Hogwarts serves all Britain, and magic in the Americas is probably pretty rare.

So this is what I came up with:

  1. Get these documents up: (they are in Google Docs)
    1. Envelope
    2. Letter
    3. Photo
  2. Change the name on the envelope and the letter.
  3. Print out the envelope and letter on parchment paper or any cool paper. Print the photo on photo paper, or just normally.
  4. Possibly take a purple pen (or even cooler, purple ink and a dip pen) and sign Dakota Foster in the letter.
  5. Cut out the envelope and photo, if needed. Fold the envelope like so:
    1. fold on the dotted lines inward, and use the creases to fold the other two corners.
    2. tape.
    3. If you need help, take apart a real envelope. The printy-out one above is modeled on those.
  6. Stick the letter and photo into the envelope. Possibly seal the envelope with wax, if you have it. Black or silver would be best.
  7. For a cool owl-touch, take scissors and drag one point about 1 cm upwards on the front of the envelope six times and twice on the back. If you got that, it kinda simulates owl claws holding the envelope. Kinda like this:

The end! I hope you understand my instructions. Any questions, comment below.

Special thanks to http://nubianwitch.livejournal.com/8512.html for giving me ideas for the acceptance letter!

Ciao!
