Free Backgrounds!

So... I made a bunch of backgrounds, only to find out they didn't fit my desktop. :( I'm not exactly sure what size they are, but they're BIG.  Link back to me if you post these anywhere else, because I did make them.

Salem Witches' Institute Letter

Well, as you DO NOT know, (I think ... ) this girl is a pretty big Harry Potter fan. One of my friends, Hannah, asked me to send her a Hogwarts letter, because I'm pretty good with ink and pens and computer editing. I don't think she thought I'd go this far, though.

First, I wrote out a Hogwarts letter, but it didn't turn out as cool as I wanted it to. So then, I started thinking. She's going into tenth grade, and lives in the USA, so what are the chances of her getting accepted to Hogwarts right now, really?

So I decided she'd get accepted to the Salem Witches' Institute. The place is mentioned once in the Harry Potter books, number four. It says something like '... four American witches sat gossiping underneath a spangled banner reading Salem Witches' Institute.' Who's to say it's not a high school? It probably also serves all North America, since Hogwarts serves all Britain, and magic in the Americas is probably pretty rare.

So this is what I came up with:

  1. Get these documents up: (they are in Google Docs)
    1. Envelope
    2. Letter
    3. Photo
  2. Change the name on the envelope and the letter.
  3. Print out the envelope and letter on parchment paper or any cool paper. Print the photo on photo paper, or just normally.
  4. Possibly take a purple pen (or even cooler, purple ink and a dip pen) and sign Dakota Foster in the letter.
  5. Cut out the envelope and photo, if needed. Fold the envelope like so:
    1. fold on the dotted lines inward, and use the creases to fold the other two corners.
    2. tape.
    3. If you need help, take apart a real envelope. The printy-out one above is modeled on those.
  6. Stick the letter and photo into the envelope. Possibly seal the envelope with wax, if you have it. Black or silver would be best.
  7. For a cool owl-touch, take scissors and drag one point about 1 cm upwards on the front of the envelope six times and twice on the back. If you got that, it kinda simulates owl claws holding the envelope. Kinda like this:

The end! I hope you understand my instructions. Any questions, comment below.

Special thanks to http://nubianwitch.livejournal.com/8512.html for giving me ideas for the acceptance letter!

Ciao!

Well, everybody, I tried to embed this AMAZING visual novel (actually, just the first chapter) on here, but, sadly, I couldn't get it big enough to see. So here's the link:

Ignore some of the words. :( I'm sad you have to. There'll be a review on this later, but I don't have time now. Ciao!

Vangabus Sandwich Dance!

Start the video around 0:20 and stop around 1:32, unless you want step-by-step instructions.

At efy this past week, we did this dance 3 or 4 times. We were a lot more vocal with it, so here are the words, or really, shorthand instructions:

  1. punch punch punch punch
  2. clap "EAT IT!"
  3. sprinkler left, sprinkler right
  4. "you want my sandwich" (sprinkler four to the left times while saying this)
  5. "you can't have my sandwich" (ditto to the right)
  6. "buckle, buckle" (quietly)
  7. "guns, guns" (quietly)
  8. "lasso, lasso" (quietly)
  9. punch punch punch punch
  10. "bring it on back"
  11. one, two, "oo-a oo-a" (4 times)
  12. disco (8 times)
  13. "woo!" "woo!" "woo!" "woo!"
  14. "AAH!" "AAH!" "AAH!" "AAH!" (jump on each scream)
  15. start over
Yup. Shorthand instructions. :) The song they use is Vangabus by the Vangaboys, but the real name is We Like To Party (vangabus).

ALSO...

Have you guys ever heard of Studio C? It's a BYUtv sketch thingy, you know, where they do 2-4 minute mini plays that are HILARIOUS? Well, unlike Sonny With a Chance, these are actually funny. I haven't seen them all, but here are a few you want to check out specifically:

    Dark Fairy Review

An exclusive game by Azaleas Dolls, all game and image rights belong to them.

    Face, Hair

    • love the options, but only a few eye shapes make sense
    • the color variety and quality ROCKS!
    • some options don't work with others
    • hair is nice, but some styles are odd...

     Clothes

    • 2-color options! :)
    • stupid transparency if you press the 'X' on the second color on the bottoms
    • variety
    • modesty not a priority here, sadly. :(

    Menus/Navigation

    • like the nested menus
    • the background of the whole game is dark, taking away some visibility

    Accessories

    • like the drag-and-drop
    • the backgrounds are cool, the way you can choose a back background and an effect
    • very fairy-ish, good job!

Wonderful game, but some things could be worked on. However, you don't get this quality on rainbowdressup.com! :)

I like the variety of themes. Here are some I made:

Like I said, the game doesn't pay much attention to modesty. :( However, it is detailed and the art is BEAUTIFUL. It's a little different from the usual Azalea's Dolls style, which is nice.

More reviews shall be here soon, including some from Rinmaru, Shibeeda, and DollDivine.
